Farewelling Bart and Kim

It is with great sadness and deep appreciation that we prepare to release our beloved pastor Bart into retirement on 13 December 2020. Bart and Kim joined us at Penshurst Anglican Church on 29 January 1997, and we carry the impact of their 24 years with us in our lives and hearts and spirits.

Due to the constraints of Covid, we are farewelling Bart and Kim over two services and a picnic in the church grounds on 13 December 2020. Registration for all three events will open on this website closer to the day.

Numbers will be limited on the day, again thanks to Covid, so you may prefer to come to one of the next few Sunday services to say your goodbyes in person.

If you would like to know more about how we will be farewelling Bart and Kim and how you might be involved in that, please contact Merilyn Mayhew on merilynmayhew@hotmail.com or Hua Feng on hfengly@yahoo.com.au.

Farewell events on Sunday 13 Dec 2020:

9:00am service in English

11:00am service in English and Mandarin

12:30pm - 2:30pm: free BBQ in church grounds

Welcoming Phill and Colette Read

God has been very gracious in providing a pastor ready to begin ministry with our PAC community the week after Bart’s final service on the 13th December. Reverend Phill Read will be inducted on Thursday 17 December 2020 as rector. Phill and Colette have been married for 26 years and active in ministry for the past 24 years. Prior to Penshurst, they have served in West Lindfield and Hurstville Grove.
They have 2 beautiful daughters (Miranda and Sophina) and enjoy spending time together as a family.
Phill is an Anglican chaplain involved in the selection of Anglican ministers. Colette serves on the Presbyter board.
They enjoy reading, walking, going to the beach and catching up with friends.

Come to one of the following events to meet and welcome Phill, Colette and the girls.

Registration for all events will be available on this website in the week before the event.

St John's Anglican Church Penshurst Building Renovation Design Proposals
869x240PACBuildingDesignProposalwebsite.
The Building Committee has had several discussions and design proposals, and now we would like your feedback on the proposed concept design.

We have a limited budget for the works which we do not want to exceed. As far as possible, we have tried to work within the existing building footprint through careful re-modelling to make better use of our existing space.

The main features are:

  • Enclosing the breezeway between the hall and church with glass walls and doors, to make a more useful foyer/welcome space.

  • Enclosing the verandah for sound, comfort and security.

  • Repositioning the staff offices to the foyer.

  • Moving the kitchen (keeping it the same size) to Bart’s old office. This will create better flow with 2 wide doors into this fellowship space.

  • Enlarging the basement classroom to make two classrooms with new storage and toilet for both.

  • Building a new entrance foyer downstairs to provide level access to the two basement classrooms.

  • Reconfiguring the existing breezeway roof to remove box gutters, improve central height and let more light into kitchen area.
